3E Eng. was commissioned by Chantier Davie Canada Inc to carry out commissioning following the refurbishment of the Canadian Coast Guard icebreaker Jean Goodwill. This mandate was carried out by two of our electrical engineers, for a combined total of 10 months of full-time work.
As part of this commissioning mandate, the following tasks were performed:
- Powering up the various distribution buses;
- Commissioning electrical equipment such as pumps, lighting, navigation signals, ventilation system, emergency system, etc.
- Testing the commissioned systems and correcting any problems;
- Revising the electrical diagrams based on the modifications made following the tests;
- Supporting suppliers in the commissioning of their systems;
- Inspecting and transferring the systems to the Canadian Coast Guard;
- Managing the locking and unlocking of systems and distribution panels.
The conversion and refit work carried out on the CCGS Jean Goodwill consisted of improving icebreaking capabilities and endurance, modernizing the propulsion control system, upgrading navigation and communication electronics, improving the galley, and increasing crew accommodation capacity.
